Evidence of Visual Effects

I have recorded footage that evidently shows what I did in my editing post production stage. When editing this specific scene in Final Cut Pro, to portray our protagonist who was hallucinating and lost, I created a little montage where I illustrated various little clips of her onto one image but made it a moving image. This was very effective for me as it was a new skill I learnt for editing and loved applying it to my work.I created this montage by creating a blank black clip at first and then dragged clips into it which I made smaller to make it look like a moving image collage. I then made them all the same duration so it ended together at the same time.
This was really exciting for me to create as I have not used my editing skills in this level before and was surprised as to how great the outcome was and looks good in my short film.

In this scene shows the protagonist beginning her hallucinations side effect and gradually fade from being captured in a dark room to a room full of bright heightened neon lights which cause her to act unfocused and dazed.
In Final Cut Pro, I used the opacity tool which I lowered and overlapped clips to create a ghost effect. I overlapped the clips at different seconds in short intervals to create a trippy effect which conveys an illusion she starts to experience.

When filming this scene, I rotated the camera around various times to create a powerful optical illusion that will make the audience feel dizzy. This is to create empathy on the character and for the audience to experience the hallucination effects of the drug she was forced to take. I also used the opacity tool for this specific part also to create the same ghost effect as I mentioned before. Using this tool was very effective at illustrating a double effect, in other words making the audience think the character is 'seeing things' or feeling uneasy.

In this scene, we used the colour correction panel to adjust the lighting of the scene and to make the exposure and saturation darker. This is because I wanted to build suspense in the capture scene.

Evidence Multiple Angles

The weapon the antagonist uses against our main character is made from rubber, which does not actually harm or injure her when she is hit. This creates suspense for the audience at this specific angle. We wanted footage to show her getting hit to show our special effect, however we wanted the screen to fade to black instantly as she is knocked unconscious and the camera is her eyes.

In this specific shot, it portrays my group member filming Amina in my Bedroom. We used Mid shots to portray her speaking on the phone and to illustrate her body language. This is also the first glimpse we have of her at the beginning of her entire face which is really important in the audiences eyes.

Evidence 1 - Special Effects

This shot was taken at Dilly's house where we used many props and camera equipment when filming in Dilly's Room. We used the camera on filming mode where we changed the lighting to shade mode as we wanted to perceive a darker image. We used the red cup to symbolise that Dilly was at the party where Amina was supposed to arrive to but never did because she was captured.

We also used fake blood to portray that Amina is hurt and and does not have to strength the resist against the kidnapper. All of these elements were important to use as they all represent a specific part of a scene and also helped us set the scene by being simplistic yet shows us a bit more of what is happening. Also, sound helped a lot in the party scene as we would play faint music in the background to portray the two different locations. The blood was used to portray our special effects in our production.
The makeup we showed in the beginning scenes illustrates the youthful age of the character and that she is going to a social gathering with friends.

Evidence of Genre Conventions and Regulatory Guidelines

In this post I am going to explain the regulatory bodies and genre conventions of the production I have created. I will be looking at the OFCOM guidelines to find information about what is appropriate to display on public television.
According to the 'Broadcasting Act 1996' all programmes unless otherwise stated, should  be applied for Licensed Service;'. This is to legalise a production airing on live television. Therefore, this means our production must apply for the licensing service to make sure it airs to the audience. - television licensable content service "has the meaning given to it in Section 232 of the Communications Act.

For our TV programme, some scenes illustrates signs of drug use and torture that may be sensitive towards our audience. Others may not be affected by this, however we will have a warning sign before the programme begins. If there are any complaints about the programme, this will head directly to OFCOM.

Focus Group

In this video, it illustrates an audience giving their views on watching back our Short Film video me and my group created. They discuss as a group what strengths and weaknesses it had and also what we could improve or make more concise.

During the duration of the beginning to the 4:33 minutes, the video portrays us all watching our short film online and they gained feedback from the audience to reflect on. At 4:41 Patryk begins the discussion by stating what we did well and what he liked about our overall film. He lists a couple strengths such as we used good angles whilst filming to make certain scenes stand out more such as the close ups on the makeup at the beginning. Another person Edi states there were plot twists he liked which makes it unique and different by how we presented the drug.

Our weaknesses we could reflect on are that in the scene with the weapon in the park, the lighting could be a little darker to make  the location more mysterious and tense. I agree we could've set it in a darker location and preferably at night as we would get natural lighting to make it more suspicious for the audience.
